The MUD district is once again doing the neighborhood wide curbside clean up.  Large items will be picked up! On Saturday,  March 10th, you will need to have your stuff out early, by 7:00am.

 

Trucks will be rolling through the neighborhood a couple of times during the day, before 2 pm, collecting up whatever you have put out.

 

Once the trucks are full or after 1pm, any remaining items at the curb will be picked up on your next scheduled trash pickup.

 

Limbs and Brush:  must  be cut in 4 foot lengths and bundle for pick up.

 

No Hazardous waste will be collected, such as:

  • Paint
  • Old motor oil
  • Toxic chemicals
  • Anything with refrigerant in it.

Please do NOT include recyclable items, place those items in the normal bins.

Beginning in October 2011, we started tracking the amount of waste diversion that the Rattan Creek Neighborhood is recycling.

 

Oct                  49.55 tons of recyclable material

Nov                  51.89 tons of recyclable material

Dec                  53.03 tons of recyclable material

 

The national average household recycles approx. 43.5 lbs of recyclable material per month.  1 ton = 2000 lbs. and we have 2630 homes. Based on an average of 51.49 tons (Oct-Dec), we are          recycling about 102,980 lbs. a month This equates to an average of 39.15 lbs. per household per month.  Based on this information, we are very close to the national average.

]]> http://rattancreek.org/2012/03/deadline-for-rcna-scholarship-is-june-30th/feed/ 0 Easter is Around the Corner! http://rattancreek.org/2012/01/easter-is-around-the-corner/ http://rattancreek.org/2012/01/easter-is-around-the-corner/#comments Tue, 10 Jan 2012 23:09:19 +0000 reneemul http://rattancreek.org/?p=489 April 7th is the RCNA’s Easter Hunt at Rattan Creek Park!  Last year, we had almost 1,000 neighbors came out for our RCNA Easter Hunt in the Park.  If you want to see scouting in the community at its best, come to the park the day of the Easter Hunt.  Both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts assist in running this event.  The Jollyville Fire Department comes out too. The kids love it all!  The parents seem to have a lot of fun too!

The RCNA is asking for our neighborhood to jump in there and help out with the Easter candy donations. Easter comes early this year.  Please donate and make this the best year ever!

 

The RCNA will need help the day before and the day of the event:  !  If you have a high school student, this would be great community service hours.  This can also go towards the requirements for the RCNA scholarship. (4hours)

 

  • Setting up fences the night before and taking them down the next day.
  • A volunteer to staff the RCNA table for memberships and monetary donations received that day.
  • Getting the candy to the proper areas the day of the event.
  • Distributing the candy in the baby area.
  • Distributing candy and eggs at the two big kid hunts.
  • Clean up

 

Items needed for RCNA Easter Egg Hunt

(all items must be individually wrapped and can be dropped off at :  13201 Kepler Cove)

Baby area: Dum-Dums, animal cookies, cookies, gummies, kisses, crackers, etc…

Older Kids:  Dum-Dums, suckers, assorted candies, hard candy, kisses, Air Heads, Jolly Ranchers, Tootsie Roles, Ring Pops, Gum, etc…

I find the best place to buy candy is at Sams or Casco.  You get a lot more for your money.  But we love any donations!

As a side note -for  the items you don’t sell or donate, we’re following up with our fall curbside clean up for bulk items on November 5th!  Set your bundled bulk items out early!

COMMUNITY WIDE GARAGE SALE: Sat.
