We in Rattan Creek have an amazing 365 day a year heated pool surrounded by several tennis courts and a beautiful park system. This is only possible because we live in an ETJ - extra territorial jurisdiction - which is owned and operated by the North Austin MUD #1 (NAMUD1). We have seen the City of Austin annex other former ETJs and immediately shut their pools down. That would be a sad day.
To use the pool you need a pool badge, and to use the tennis courts you need a key. If you pay your water bill to the North Austin MUD #1, you are eligible for an in district membership to the pool and/or tennis courts. And if you don't pay your water bill to NAMUD1? You simply pay for an out of district membership!
That means if you live in The Bluffs, or if you live in one of the in district aparment complexes, and your water bill is paid to the North Austin MUD #1, you are eligible for in district rates!
Remember, the pool membership payment is COMPLETELY SEPARATE from your RCNA membership dues. Completely different, completely separate, completely unattached. The MUD does include a section on their pool membership form where you are able to pay your annual RCNA membership dues, and that is simply the MUD being very supportive of the RCNA. The two do not have anything to do with each other.
You can go to the Rattan Creek Park Community Center to pick up and/or drop off the pool application form, and you can go to the the MUD Website Pool Page to download and print a pool form. You'll also find detailed pool hours and other information on that same page!
If going to the pool in person, remember to bring along your NAMUD1 water bill! That is the only thing they want or need for proof that you are in disctrict. Your driver's license with your address on it will NOT be sufficient. Bring that NAMUD1 water bill along!
So what are you waiting for? Time to get your pool membership taken care of!
